March 2024 Followers Showcase

This is always a favorite time of the month for the Master Forgers!  We get to pick someone from our FaceBook Community who has caught our attention with their kits and layouts using their kit!  This month, we had so many of our members participating and showing some amazing work.  That made choosing just one person for this post SO VERY HARD!!!

I have chosen Lacy Stockton.

Here's her kit.

She has been creative with her layouts which is good to see. Here they are.

This one in particular sparked my interest, I love those dear little blue bows on the photo.

The buttons on here are a great embellishment.

                                                                Well done Lacy!!!!

That's all for now. Check back for our Use your scraps challenge.

March 2024 Challenge #3 Sketch

Refreshing your memory about our kit.

                                                          PARASOL12 x 12 Kit – Citrus Twist Kits

Our third challenge is to use this sketch.

I've used it a few times and it comes up well usually. Look what our ladies have done!

Master Forger Tina

Tina loved the sketch that Julene chose. It was perfect to document her 1st time trying power sorting as they call it.

To see more about the layout go to her blog

Master Forger Laurie

I really like the sketch that Julene chose for this month. I find it to be quite versatile. I noticed right away there was stitching. Are you afraid of stitching like I am? While I enjoy the look of it, I don’t enjoy doing it.  So, instead, I used a stitch stamp. No stamp? Then just use dash marks. I included some fibers in my kit this month so I made sure to use them. I stamped and colored those cute little bunnies from an Easter stamp that I included in my kit. I can’t wait to see your take on this sketch.

March 2024 Challenge #1 Flowers and Buttons

Here's the March Inspiration Kit to refresh your memory:

PARASOL 12 x 12 Kit – Citrus Twist Kits

The first thing I noticed about this kit was the flowers. As well as floral papers, you can add flower embellishments.

Your challenge is to add flowers and buttons.

Let's see what our Master Forgers have done to inspire you.

Master Forger Misty went with an 8.5x11 layout.

Master Forger Ryann is always excited to scrap pictures of her granddaughters!  And what better than to also use one of those forgeries from before?  This is how that heart paper forgery turned out - after moving a few of the hearts to better locations on the paper!

Master Forger Vikki thought this was a perfect challenge to make a page about her recent birthday.  She used a stencil and solar paste for the background.

Master Forger JoJo says this about her layout for this challenge - I was inspired by the animals in my kit to scrapbook my Bellagio Gardens photos and that I made the flowers and leaves, plus added pearls and buttons to my clusters.

Master Forger Julene says this about her layout for this challenge -I used a photo of a flower bed as my focus then stitched a circle and added flowers and buttons in 2 main clusters.

Here's what we have in store for you for the rest of the month:

March 2024 Mini kit reveal and project.

Is a full-sized kit not your thing? Or perhaps, you have a vacation planned this month to beat the winter blues & won’t have much time to craft. Whatever the reason, there’s still inspiration to be found for curating a mini-kit from your stash to play along with us!

As a reminder, here is the kit we are focused on this month:

PARASOL 12 x 12 Kit – Citrus Twist Kits

Master Forger Tara

I have never had the mini kit duties and honestly, I wasn't sure I could pull it off because I normally make HUGE kits!  However, Master Forger Julene sweet talked me into doing it for March so I have given it my best shot!  So, while this may NOT be your idea of a mini kit, trust me when I say it's MINI.  I pulled from my stash of Bo Bunny papers from the same collection as in the original kit.  I also used a Maggie Holmes patterned paper that was very similar to the one in the inspiration kit and came from my February CKCB kit. One less patterned paper to put away, right?  I added two sets of phrases and a mini alpha.  My floral embellishments are actually flowers that I fussy cut from a Maggie Holmes patterned paper that I had set aside to use "someday".  Well, someday is this month!  I also pulled some bits and pieces from another Crate Paper set of ephemera, some twine and trim, and some of my wonderful labels that I use all the time.  That rounds out my kit.

Here’s my layout that I created with my mini kit:

You can watch my process video HERE.

I also created a second layout using my mini kit and today’s sketch from 30 Days of Sketches with Christy’s Beautiful Life. Here is the process video for this layout.

Master Forger Jody

I am so excited to share my first Mini Kit! As Tara said making a mini kit is not easy! I enjoyed going through my Maggie Holmes stash and other Crate Paper pattern papers. For some embellishments, I grabbed a few things from my American Crafts stash. I feel I leaned towards to brighter colors. I will always have mixed media in my kits. I have my trusty Distress Oxide inks, a few glazes and some Pink Fresh Studio stamps and stencil.

With Spring on our doorstep I knew I wanted to make a mini album. I took the beautiful yellow, blue, and green colors to make layered butterflies from a Paige Evans cut file. Then I made album pages. I did use a few Silhouette Design Store cut files, but you could use punches or a paper trimmer. Using my handy Mini Cinch Disc tool, I had a bright and pretty mini ready to fill up in no time! I decided to use this mini to keep my YouTube process videos organized! Wish me luck!

As March goes on, I will share how this mini album gets filled. Organizing my checklists should be simple and fun!

I love a good pocket in my mini albums. I will use this one to store my checklists.

I did not embellish every page. I wanted to give myself enough room to add my ongoing checklists.

I could not waste one of the butterflies, so I attached it to the back for a pop of color.

Do show us on the Facebook group what you have made for your mini kit.

March 2024 Forgeries on the Fourth

Today the Master Forgers are here to show you how to make your own products by using your stash.

Before we begin, let's look at the kit again

This feature is all about the fun of having a go at making up your own embellishments or re-creating the papers as a way of getting the same look as the inspiration kit even if you don't have any of the original items.

These tutorials are often so simple and easy that it really is a perfect chance to try out an idea or two. Make sure you share if you do, we love to see it when are motivated to give it a go!

Now it's time to see what our talented team have come up with - this is always such an inspiration for me. The Master Forgers often create things that would just not have crossed my mind.

Master Forger Misty was inspired by the crepe paper "ribbon" in the inspo kit. She not only recreated the ruffled ribbon in the kit, but then kept playing with crepe paper to make florals & more. You can learn how to do these yourself for just pennies over on her YouTube video.

Master forger Julene has made some floral tags using scraps of cardstock, a paint chip and patterned paper.

Master Forger Ryann wanted to get the look of the green heart paper she didn't have.  She used scraps of music note paper on her die cut machine to cut the hearts, and used one of them as a stencil to create the outline look on the paper.  She chose to use a lightly patterned green paper instead of the solid.

She also got inspired to make some of the floral cards, again, using scraps, and adding the last bits of flower stickers from several different sets she had on hand.

Master Forger Laurie came up with the idea to make some 3x4 pocket cards. She used card stock, stamps and stickers from her kit this month.

Here's what we have in store for you for the rest of the month:
