February Kit Challenge #2

How do you like to spend your weekend?

Challenge #2 is "Weekend time"

Interpret that however you like.

Laura created this layout documenting an ordinary weekend at home. "Weekends are pretty boring in our house as I have to work Saturday and Sunday nights but it's still 'real life' and worth documenting!"

Don't forget to check out Laura over on Instagram. You can find her at

Kelly made this layout about how she loves to just relax on the weekends. She and her husband like to read with a cup of coffee. Her kids enjoy playing video games together.

Cindy made this layout combining her weekend chores and what she enjoys doing when they are done.

You can find more about her layout here.

No rest for the weary for Lynnette!  Her weekends are full of theatre commitments and getting her thespians to rehearsal (and fed) on time!

Margie scrapped photos from a favorite weekend activity a few years ago; time at the park with her kiddos in the spring:

She has details and more photos up on her blog, along with her answer to challenge #1, Paris.

February Kit Challenge #1

Challenge #1 is I LOVE PARIS

  • WE all love Paris. capture the mood of Paris in your layout/card/tags. Use iconic buildings from Paris (need I list them?).Add love hearts, lace, whatever you want.
  • I’ve added some ideas to the Pinterest page.
  • They don’t have to feature photos of Paris!

Monica, our Guest Designer, has been inspired by love. (in French) Je T'aime.

Now let's see what our Master Forgers have been inspired to make.

Lisa squeezed as many photos as she could onto a page from a recent trip to France. She fell in love with this beautiful small town and decided that it was just about as French as you can get. You can find out more about the layout and some detail shots over on her blog here. She picked out elements from her kit to bring a certain "je ne sais pas" to her layout.

Julene has used 3 photos from her 2009 trip to Paris plus lots of small hearts to show her love for the city. Find out more on her blog including the journaling inside that card.

When Lori thinks of Paris, she thinks of love and all things girly - butterflies, hearts, and pink - which is what she used on this layout of her granddaughter. You can read more about it on her blog here.

When Tina thinks of Paris she thinks of the iconic buildings, the love and the atmosphere of the city and her kit had a few things that resembled those thoughts. A layout of her favorite pooch one spoiled king in her household. You can see more details of the layout over at Tina's blog.

February 2018 - Mini Kit Reveal

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the idea of a big kit this month? Perhaps you just want to pull together a few products to get those creative juices flowing. Maybe a mini-kit is the answer and we are here to show you what mini-kits we've created using the original inspiration kit by Noel Mignon.

Weekend in Paris Classic Kit
There is also a Daily Diary Kit. Mini Counterfeit Kits can either be simply smaller versions of the main kit, or they can be specifically aimed at use as card kits, mini album kits, pocket style albums or planners. It's entirely up to you and, of course, you can use the mini-kit option whenever you like!

Let's see what our team have produced for the mini kit this month.

Susan loved the many shades of pink in the Noel Mignon kits so she filled her not-so mini kit with that color, along with some black & white embellishments:

Here is the first page she made - you can read all about it on her blog.

Leslie's starting point was the Crate Paper "Carousel" cut apart cards - the only piece of the kit that she owns. She got so excited about it that she fussy-cut them before she photoed her kit!

Last year was a big birthday that needed to be scrapped in a fun & playful way. Get the full story on her blog.

We love seeing your work, so be sure to share your kits and projects with us. You can do this by using the Link-Up page here on the blog, posting in the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Facebook Community Group or on Instagram (find us @counterfeitchallenge and share with #counterfeitchallenge )

February 2018 -Forgery on the Fourth

February's kit inspiration:

Noel Mignon Weekend in Paris Clazzic Kit

I see a feminine kit with beautiful soft colors, pretty details & whimsical images.
Easy forgeries? Cute striped bows, a fun "Paris" bingo card, lots of other fun cards to play with.

What have our Master Forgers found or figured out to help you this month?

Lisa spent some time on Pinterest and came up with the following printable links.

Printable hot air balloons
Outline flower paper
Floral digital stamp
Vintage inspired tags
Paris city view to colour in
Printable tickets
Paris themed stickers
Parisian doodles

And she had a go at the ribbon bows. As always, simple and quick but there are a few extra photos to see over on her blog here  ;-)

Laura also had a go at recreating the bows in the kit "i didn't have any ribbon in my stash, but did have fabric tape. So i simply cut a long length, folded it in half so it was no longer sticky and made it into bows."

"I also loved the hydrangea die cut that was featured in the inspiration kit, but had nothing similar. I did however have a Heidi Swapp project life card with an equally lovely flower, so simply fussy cut it out!"

Cindy made a few of the clear frames that were in the inspiration kit using a stamp set, inks and embossing powders.

Kelly made her own doilies using her Silhouette machine. She liked how these turned out, although she did not enjoy peeling off all of the tiny pieces of leftover paper on her cutting mat!

We love seeing how the simplest of ideas can make the prettiest elements for your kit. Why not give one of our ideas a try and join in the fun!

Don't forget to come back again on 6th for some mini-kit inspiration as well as the challenges on 12th and 18th.

If you create any of your own forgeries, make sure you share with us! We love to see your creations and projects.  You can do this by using the Link-Up page here on the blog, posting in the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Facebook Community Group or on Instagram (find us @counterfeitchallenge and share with #counterfeitchallenge )

Just the Gist of It

The February kit features many soft colours and beautiful embellishments

It has a shabby chic vibe with the doileys and laces.

Pink pompoms

Clear frames

Gold lettering

Black and white ribbon

Resin butterflies

Vintage laces

Gold lettering

The papers are hidden in both the main photos, so here's a collage of them.

You can see big florals with a circus/carnival theme.

The chip it colours to the right hand side might help you.

It looks like it will be a fun kit to scrap with.

It doesn't matter how big or small your kit is, as long as you capture the "feel" of it.

Enjoy your "Weekend in Paris"

Welcome to our guest Designer, Monica

Hello, I'm Monica and super excited to be a Guest DT member this month! I live in central IL with my husband and 3 boys for the last 14 years. That's a long time for me growing up a military brat. I've be scrapbooking off and on since I was in high school and for awhile I found scrapbooking (with all of it's white space) intimidating and stopped. I really got back into papercrafting after working at Michaels where a co worker got me interested in cardmaking. Soon after that my pictures started making their out of hiding and making their way into scrapbooks where they belong!  I love putting pages together and showcasing my pictures of family memories.

Here is the order of the blog hop

Don't forget that you can share you Counterfeit Kit Challenge kits and pages/projects on the CKC blog here, over in the Counterfeit Kit Challenge FB community here or over on Instagram here (find us @counterfeitchallenge and share with #counterfeitchallenge )

January 2018 - Follower Showcase!

Without Master Forger Susanne's (we still miss her!) "Snippets from my Scrap Studio" column, the blog feels a little quiet between Challenge #2 on the 18th and the sneaks that we give you at the end of the month.

What we need is to spread a little - or even a whole lot of - love around and this is exactly what I intend to do.

So I'd like to highlight our new Counterfeit Kit Challenge follower - well, she's been "lurking" in the background for some time but we are so happy that she's stepped out into the light! - and new kitter, Doreen! You can catch up with her and all her wonderful creations over at her blog: Doreena's Place

Back on 1st January, when we showcased our first kit of the year, Doreen commented: "I have never played along though I have wanted to.... I think its because I'm not 100% sure how to. But I'm going to try this year, and even if I make mistakes, I will just learn from them!" Wow, we love comments like this. Someone just ready to fall in love with the kitting process and willing to just go for it! We are always excited to hear from people finding us for the first time or trying out our concept!

The community immediately made her feel welcome and reminded us all that there are no rules here - everyone approaches their kit making and project crafting differently! We just love it when people create kits they love, using loved but maybe forgotten stash they have in their craft area, to make layouts and projects that are equally loved. All that love gives us the smiles!

Doreen has jumped right in and produced so many wonderful projects in the first few weeks of the year but I wanted to highlight her wonderful first ever kit, "Newbie":

She gives us a full run down on her blog about how she approached the process and the fun she had, finding and picking out the embellishments. I think this is a totally wonderful kit and by the looks of all the projects she's shared in January, she had a lot of fun using it. Yeah!!!

Head on over to say hi to Doreen and check out her wonderful creations - she's pretty prolific so you might need to grab a drink and get yourself comfortable!

Now, we're counting down to Julene's pick for the February kit! Are you ready and excited to get going again with a new set of supplies? Come on back on 1st and watch out on IG and FB for the sneaks. It's a good one so you won't want to miss out.
