Memories of Christmas Past by Susanne

Ho ho hello, all you merry counterfeiters.  Susanne here, with my installment in our series - The memories of Christmas past.

The idea is to make up a mini kit / page kit and a project highlighting a Christmas from the past. Try to use limited supplies to finish a single project.  We hope these short posts highlight that something can be created quickly and easily, even at this crazy busy time of year.  These ideas, of course, are transferrable to your own current Christmas projects.

I started with a 12 x 12 cut-apart sheet from Lawn Fawn’s Snow Day Collection paired with a sticker sheet from Pebbles Home for Christmas collection and a white chipboard alphabet called Sotheby’s from American Crafts which included two sizes of letters.

These items set the mood of my layout, now I just needed to add basics.  I chose a green “kachina” sheet of Bazzill cardstock as my base, and then layered it with two leftover pieces of patterned paper.  The larger one was a neutral black dot on white and the smaller layer was a tiny tone-on-tone floral in blue that complemented my photo and the light turquoise featured in the other elements.

I chose 3 of the journal cards to arrange across my page – one as an accent block, one as a journal block and one to use to frame my photo.  Then I set about embellishing with bird houses cut from a fourth block and bird stickers from the Pebbles sheet.  To give my page pizzazz, I added in red washi tape, sequins, black and white ribbon and a big turquoise button tied near my title.  I used both sizes of Thickers, inking the larger one and covering it with Stickles to give the word Santa a little more punch. I also decorated the top and bottom borders of the page very simply.

It took me less than 45 minutes in total to complete this page (not counting drying time).  I hope you will take the hint to use those cut-apart pages as the major element of your next layout.  It is definitely a time saver.

If you pop over to my blog, Snaps & Snippets, you will find another example of a quick and easy Christmas memory page.

See you tomorrow with my post about a follower of Christmas present.

A Counterfeit Kit Challenge Christmas Carol

Welcome to the Counterfeit Kit Challenge for December and we are so excited to share our Christmas build-up with all our followers.

True to previous years, we've decided to shake things up a little and we hope that our daily posts throughout the month will inspire you to get out some of your own Christmas stash and turn it into memories of past, present and even future!

So, what are we up to this month?

Well, we decided to celebrate A Counterfeit Kit Challenge Christmas Carol!

Yes, you may be scratching your head and wondering what on earth we're talking about so let me help.

First, we will be sharing a post for
A Counterfeit Kit Challenge Christmas Carol - The memories of Christmas past.

The idea in this post is to show you a small page kit turned into a Christmas memory from the past. We know how hectic these weeks can be so we'd like to inspire you make something quick and easy - something that you might be able to use for any of the many December projects around or just your regular December scrapping or pocket page memory keeping.

On the second day, we'll be posting
A Counterfeit Kit Challenge Christmas Carol - The followers of Christmas present.

This is where we'd like to highlight a few of our faithful CKC followers who have taken up our challenge of making their own kit from their own much loved supplies and have contributed to our community. Each of the Master Forgers have picked one or two members to give a loud shout out to and this is our way to say Thank You to ALL of you out here who've been with us all year.

On the third day, we'll be blogging about
A Counterfeit Kit Challenge Christmas Carol - The expectation of Christmas future.

Each of these posts will talk a little about what we are hoping for scrappy-wise or creatively in the year to come. We might be sharing our present wish lists, our resolutions for the new year, maybe our OLW or even our creative plans for 2017. We hope that you will find something to add to your own letter to Santa or creative goals for the year to come.

And there you have it. As of tomorrow, for the next thirty days, we'll be right here, sharing our Christmas thoughts with you. Of course, it's SO much better when all of YOU are there with us and we hope that you will continue to show us your own creative projects through December on our Link Up page.

There's no member blog hop this month but we hope to be back with it in January - we are just setting up our CKC goals for the new year so let's see what 2017 will bring for us as well.

So, come back tomorrow to see what Master Forger Susanne has for us!

November 2016 Challenge #3

Challenge #3 - Bundle Up

In cooler weather, we start dressing in layers stay warm. For the third challenge of the month, dress your project for the crisp air by using lots of layers.

Susanne whipped up this quick layout by layering the remaining scraps from her November kit.

Clair used layers on a small scale to create some cute, little tags. See more of them on her blog, Obstinate Pursuit.

Lesley just piled those layers on, you can see more photos on her BLOG

Lynnette layered up some pocket page cards in this sweet layout.

November 2016 Challenge #2

Challenge #2 - A Walk in the Woods

Source

In the fall, we often take long walks in the woods to enjoy the crisp air and turning of the leaves. For this challenge, let the forest be your inspiration. Create a project inspired by the woods. For ideas, check out this Pinterest board.

Susanne scrapped about when Flat Stanley came to visit her daughter - how is that for a unique adventure.  He was photographed lounging outside among the fall leaves.  You can find out more about his story on her blog, Snaps & Snippets.

Kelly documented the little details she photographs during her walks in the woods at her house.

Julene has scrapped a layout featuring teddy bears, plus also a reindeer card.

Our Guest Designer, Dawn, has a woodland-inspired layout on her blog.

And Master Forger Margie made some Woodland Inspired sweet little layered embellishments with items from her kit and scraps:
